About Blaby & District Social Centre

Hall Management
This hall is managed by a committee of volunteers from the local community and is a Registered Charity (No. 521394). The committee meets every 4-6 weeks and oversees the arrangements for maintenance and hiring out of the hall. The committee also organises community events that raise money for the hall and bring local people together, such as the Blaby Bazaar, Film Nights and concerts. The money raised from hall hire and events is used, together with community grants, to keep the building heated, lit and in good condition.
History
The Blaby and District Social Centre was built in 1958 on land donated to the local community by local business woman and benefactor Alice Viscountess Hall (Alice Walker), after whom we have named our main function room.
